My team’s UAV won second place in our class design competition.
The goal was to build a remote controlled, lighter than air vehicle to accurately deliver a payload to a target, then fly through hoops to score points.
Due to the project being student funded, we focused on creating an affordable design that was highly unique and effective in the competition.
While most blimp designs used common two propeller designs to maneuver their craft, ours was one of two crafts to utilize a single propeller design, and the only single propeller craft to maneuver well. Our propeller was mounted on compound servos to have omnidirectional propulsion, and was mounted at lower front of the craft to allow for better orientation of the UAV.
